So here you go;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Enable SSH for your application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable Application Access<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set your webroot to public_html\/root (or something similar)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move the files inside public_html to the newly created folder (root)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Update your VSCode settings.json file and include something like below<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And don&#8217;t forget to enable SSH Access in Application Settings!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>\"remote.SSH.serverInstallPath\": {\n        \"{HOSTNAME}\": \"\/home\/{SERVER_ID}.cloudwaysapps.com\/{APPLICATION_ID}\/public_html\/.vscode-server\",\n    }<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case {HOSTNAME} refers to the SSH hostname, if you connect with <code>ssh user@domain.com<\/code> than the hostname is <code>domain.com<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>{SERVER_ID} and {APPLICATION_ID} can be found by connecting to SSH and then running the <code>pwd<\/code> command. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why does this not work by default?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>VSCode needs to install some configuration files and wants to save them in <code>\/home\/{SERVER_ID}.cloudwaysapps.com\/{APPLICATION_ID}\/.vscode-server<\/code> by default, Cloudways does not allow saving files outside of the public_html<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve read my blogs before than you probably know that I like to keep it short.
